Demanding route to the highest peak of the Rocky mountains. It leaves from the Longs Peak traihead car park. You do not need a permit to enter this area. The parking lot fills up by 4am on weekends. If it is full, park on the sides of the road even if there are no parking signs.
You may need to bring crampons. It is best to check it through All Trails. It is where the information is most up-to-date. I asked the park rangers and they told me that crampons were necessary when they weren't. If crampons are needed they can be rented in Easter Park at the Mountain Shop for $10.
The helmet is also recommended.
In my case I started walking at 4 in the morning. The first part through the forest is an easy path to do at night. In summer, afternoon storms are frequent, so it is better to finish as soon as possible.
