Itinerary description
Grays and Torrey's Peak is a 8.56 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Idaho Springs, Colorado that features a river. This is a Class 2 climbing: Simple scrambling, with the possible occasional use of the hands.
Trail-head:
Take I-70 to the Bakerville exit (#221). Leave the highway and drive south over to the dirt parking area near the start of Forest Road 189 (low-clearance passenger cars should park here). Next 3 miles to the summer trailhead (only 4wd with high clearance). the trailhead is at 11,280'. There are restrooms and a few dispersed camping spots near the parking area. When the parking area is full (it happens pretty early on summer), you can park along the road.
