Itinerary description
The trail starts next to route 79, you will see a sign indicating the entrance.
The last 2 kilometres were completely covered with snow. With each step you buried in about 1 metre of snow.
In those conditions it took me 4 hours to reach the refuge. I was carrying 12 kgs in the backpack. One part of the path was not signed and you had to cross a slightly marshy area, easy to get lost. The best way to avoid it is going along the river upwards.
The refuge has bathrooms, a nice kitchen and a place to sleep in the top floor.
At some point my GPS signal stopped working so you will notice that the trail has a straight line to the refuge. On the way back it was recorded and shows the correct path. You can download the right path from www.barilochetrekking.com.
