Itinerary description
Coimbra - Pedrulha
It was a warm day. I stopped at a pharmacy and talked about drugs for inflammation. They only gave me naproxin but then I found somebody selling cherries so I bought a few € worth. Cherries are a good choice for fighting inflammation. Lots of busy roads in these first few days. I started trusting that cars a few feet away were paying attention. But not too much. Sometimes stepping off the road and waiting.
Hotel was like a prison or storage unit. All gated. I asked about food and she said to phone it in. I was ready to leave. I did arrange for a taxi to get me back to the camino the next morning. I saw some places through a crack in the fence. I had to walk half a mile to get there and found an ok restaurant. A couple approached and we chatted. She had lived in Boston and knew where I lived in Solana Beach. The taxi driver the next morning was super cool. I wasn’t sure he knew I wanted to get out where I turned ahead of Mehada, the town on the Camino route I bypassed. I was going to feel a bit bad for chopping off a mile or so, but he got me back to the place I had turned like I wanted.
