Itinerary description
We did this hike when we stayedin Samaipata. You can take a taxi for 80 BOL from Samaipata to the start of the trek. The part from the highway to the start of the trek is not that interesting, so I think it is better to do this part by taxi. The first part is indicated on several maps. After about 1 km, the path splits and you need to left to go up a different ridge in stead of continuing on the ridge you are walking. One up that ridge, you will pas a steep track towards a mirador on you left, which is worth exploring, but you need to backtrack to the main path. Continue walking on the top of this ridge until you reach "Bella Vista". From there the track is quite straightforward as there is only one path visible. The path continues on top of the ridge and goes down to a river, which you need to cross so you walk to the right side of that river through the river valley. After a few kilometers the valley (or canyon) splits to a right and left branch. Take the left and continue following the valley until you reach a waterfall of about 10 meters high with a swimming area. You are now in the recreational area of Cueva and the small path you have been walking becomes a well maintained trail through the recreational area, passing two other waterfalls and ending at the main road.

We intended to take a bus or shared taxi but were able to get a ride with some friendly people.
