Itinerary description
Take the public transport/taxi to the beginning of Avenida Centenario. From there, next to the roundabout, you can take a trufi that takes you to the Taquiña beer factory for 1,5b. From there, facing the factory, take the path on your left, go left of the fence around the factory. At the back, you’ll find a road going up, turning to the left.
Follow the road (you can take some shortcuts on the way) and keep on walking until you reach the river. There is a bridge, but this one has collapsed. Therefore, look to your right, you’ll see a little path that will take you closer to the river. Cross there (watch out, the river can be wild).
Now the river is on your left hand side. This will not change, although you will have to hop over it a few times. WARNING! The path has been collapsed at some parts due to avalanches. Cross these parts with extreme caution! The ground is very loose and most stones as well, which makes it dangerous. Stay low for a better balance and try to separate your weight.
Further up, you will enter a part surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Keep on walking up. After a while you will come above those trees (and also the river) on a grass field. Cross it straight, you will find the path going up.
After a while I lost the path, so I didn’t make it to the top. However, the view and nature is already amazing from this point. Maybe you’ll find the path to the top, good luck. :)
The way back is the exact same way.
Bear in mind that the path can be slippery and you will have to jump over rocks to go on. Don’t go when it rains, the ground and the rocks will be muddy and whet, which makes it too risky.
That said, it’s a very nice hike close to Cochabamba. Enjoy!
