Itinerary description

This hike in the CVRD's Cobble Hill regional park (just south if Duncan) offers a good cardio workout with a reward of spectacular views from the summit. The trails are well signed and well maintained.

You will ascend through changing vegetation (sword fern glades, golden maple ridges, stands of mature Douglas firs, cedars, and hemlocks) to an eastward view of the Gulf Islands and south to the Malahat. If it is a clear day, Mt. Baker in Washington State will be visible. A short walk brings you to a view overlooking the pastoral Koksilah Valley and off in the distance the Cowichan Valley.

At times, you may see raptors soaring in the thermals.
