Itinerary description
Clear Mountain Regional Park was formally gazetted in 2000 as two forest reserves, Clear Mountain Forest Reserve 1 and Clear Mountain
Forest Reserve 2. In 2009 these were amalgamated to create Clear Mountain Conservation Park. There are five animal species of conservation significance have been identified as the main values of this park. These are cicadabirds, white-throated needletail birds, rainbow bee-eaters, short-beaked echidnas, and koalas.
The hike follows a number of trails that follow the creek system and various fire trails in and around the park area. Do not underestimate the steepness of some of the hills contained within the track network.

Nice track close to town. No outlook which may disappoint some. It would be great to see if the watercourses flow after rain.

Great trail, but part of it runs through private property.
We walked this trail last weekend. All good until the fence at about the 5.4 km mark (around 152.9176°E 27.3223°S) when the trail leaves conservation park. At this point you start to see printed signs attached to trees saying "private property". It is still possible to complete most of this trail, but to avoid private property, at this point I recommend staying within the conservation park fence, turning north on an alternative fire trail which follows the inside of the fence until you can re-join the route at around 152.9183°E 27.3137°S.
Cashs road beyond the conservation park is still within a narrow corridor of public land, but this mapped route turns off this and heads north at around the 6.1 km mark (around 152.9223°E 27.3229°S ) and you see more "private property" signs. The stretch of this route from here until it loops back around inside the conservation park boundary 7.2 km mark (around 152.9183°E 27.3137°S) is private property.
The private property signs state that the land was recently sold, and they are correct. The land parcel in question is lotplan 352S312809 - 8 Cashs Road, Cashmere: land-qld-cashmere-202811138.
The modified version of this trail that avoids private property is a little shorter, at 8.9 km, but we found it a really decent workout with all the hills.
I have created an edited version of this hike which avoids the private property, but Wikiloc won't let me upload it as it's too similar to this original one! :)
Anyway we are glad we did this hike as it is beautiful eucalypt forest, and all the rain over the last year has meant there are clear pools and trickles in the creeks currently. This is a real treat as this would mostly be pretty dry country.
