Itinerary description
Interesting walk along canals, waters, ponds and the river Lek through polder landscapes which varies along the tracks.
Starting out from the path opposite the small car park (accommodating 4 cars or so) and in between the two big displays on the area, continue along this track for around 3 kms.
From the start you walk along the Sprinkhaanzanger route.
However, turn right at a T-crossing when you reach Zouweboesem.
(Before reaching this point, don't overlook the very short path on your right, where you pick up a path that runs parallel to the original track.)
Following the dyke in the Zouweboesem area, you'll come across a special path on your left which takes you into the reedy lake area to a bird watching spot / viewing point across the waters., well worth the short detour.
On crossing the dyke road and descending towards the river Lek you'll have nice views on your left towards the village of Ameide. And then while walking on the banks of the Lek the church tower of Jaarsveld comes into view on the other side of the water.
Here along the river the trail becomes a little adventurous as there is not a clear-cut track all the way, although you won't have any troubles in continuing your walk along the water.
Quite a few times you have to climb gates or manoevre yourself through a gate, but again, you won't experience any serious difficulties.
Returning to the dyke road up the hill as it were, you have wonderful views over the water landscape on your left and the fruit growing lands on your right.
Especially approaching the village of Lexmond the views are extensive near the large bend in the river Lek (which appeared to be a busy transport route even on a Sunday).
The best period for this walk may well be spring when the fruit trees blossom.

Easy to follow
Scenery
Moderate
Als je eenmaal de dijk over bent en langs de Lek de route vervolgd komen er een paar lastige stukken. Inderdaad door wat struikgewas ( lange broek aan te raden!), en maisveld.
