Itinerary description

Circular made in two days leaving from the village of Zarnesti. A path leads to a rock canyon where the satellite reception is poor, so the GPS will be of little use, although it is not necessary either, as we can only go in the direction of the canyon. Arrived at a lookout point at 1600 m we went by a path to the northwest to climb the ridge (part of altitude 1900 m approx.) That will take us to the peak Varful Ascutit (2135 m) passing by others as Turnu and Padina Popii .
In the shelter of Varful Ascutit (free and in good condition, with room for 6 sleeping bags) we take a path that goes down sharply in the southeast direction to spend the night in the shelter of Curmatura (large capacity but that is filled on weekends , with kitchen but without running water).
If you do not go down that path, the only descent of the ridge on the south side is at the height of the Om (at 2:30 hours from the refuge of Varful Ascutit).
On the second day we went down from the Curmatura refuge to an impressive canyon with towering rock walls, with access to a track that took us without any difficulty to the village of Zarnesti.

Me gustaria saber si en este recorrido hay algun paso de cresta que pueda ser peligroso. ¿La bajada que comentas aparte de empinada es complicada?

No hay ningún paso comprometido. Se va cresteando pero es bastante ancho (alguna grimpadita, pero nada complicado). Si queréis llegar hasta La Om creo que sí hay alguna zona en la que hay que ir con más cuidado.
La bajada tampoco tiene complicación. Hay un paso con un cable, pero es totalmente prescindible.
Ojo! te hablo del mes de septiembre. En invierno la bajada seguro que se pone más divertida ya que es principalmente roca.
La ruta tiene una pinta increíble. Una pregunta en Cabana Curmatura con cuánto tiempo de antelación reservasteis? Hace frío en septiembre? Es que no quiero llevar saco para no tener que cargar con el todo el viaje
buenas! no reservamos ya que no pudimos contactar antes con los guardas. el día que fuimos era viernes y había bastante gente (por lo que pongo en la reseña nos debieron comentar que los fines de semana se llenaba).
nosotros también fuimos en septiembre y no pasamos frío (siempre puedes pedir alguna manta en el refugio; nosotros fuimos con saco sábana y usamos unas)
