Itinerary description

This newly elaborated hike starts in Mullerthal with its most exhausting part, a fairly steep climb to a wooden pavilion in the woods. On winding paths, you come along some of the region’s typical rock formations and small streams. The second half of the hike offers one highlight after the other. Following a descent through the woods, you reach a spot at the Black Ernz where the skeleton of the Loschbourman had been found, the oldest Luxembourger, who lived here around 8.000 years ago. A long wooden boardwalk overstretching the winding stream leads to the impressive travertine source called Kalktuffquell. Here, the water slowly drips over a rock into a crystal-clear pond. The last km leads past the Schéissendëmpel, a well-known place in the Mullerthal Region – Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland, with its stone bridge over the picturesque waterfall of the Black Ernz.
