Itinerary description
A steep and rather difficult path leading from "the capital of Val Grande" to one of the finest alpine sceneries, passing through chestnut and beech forests. Between Monte Faié and Cima Sasso the trail is only marked by piles of stones and sheep poo, so the chances to get lost are pretty high.
From the top you have spectacular views of the two largest lakes in the area (Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta) and of the surrounding mountain ranges, including Monte Rosa, Pedum, and Corni di Nibbio. The Val Grande is the largest wilderness area in Italy and one of the last in the Alps.
