Itinerary description
Park in Pinar de la Venta, cross a flat field, descend into the Río Seco and walk east in this arroyo. Note high cliffs showing history of Primavera Caldera which began with an explosion 94,000 years ago, creating a big hole which became a lake for 15,000 years.
Exit Río Seco via The Creepy Gate and ascend through pine and oak forest to a ridge. Follow trail west, passing Chuyville shelters built by kids during summer courses in the woods with Jesús "Chuy" Moreno. Descend through narrow slot canyon back down to Río Seco.

Unfortunately, the gateway for leaving Pinar de la Venta, shown at the trailhead, has been closed permanently. However, you can still get into the Rio Seco from the small street Retorno Casuarinas, shown on the map. Buena ruta!
