Itinerary description
The route begins with rather short official Chrysorrogiatissa trail but I extended it a bit by including the part of Vouni Panagia Trail ( https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/vouni-panagia-nature-trail-pano-panagia-70354408 ). Actually depending on a season one can do bigger extension including upper vineyards, however mind that this area is fully exposed to the sun.
The surroundings are really nice having initially lavish forest with oak trees and are full of numerous vineyards and orchards later.
This trail can be combined with visit to Chrysorrogiatissa monastery and two wineries around.
TERRAIN: Chrys. trail is a narrow forest path, part of the trail goes next to the motorway, Vouni part is asphalt road and a bit of dusty car road closer to the end. Easy ups and downs.
SEASON: Crys. Trail is pleasantly shady with a few direct sun bits, thus walkable all year round. The extension (Vouni trail) is mostly exposed to the sun, though there are some nice winds, elevation may be difficult in warm season.
SIGNS: plenty of signs and plant plates at Chrys. Trail, though no resting places. Nothing is on the extension.
KIDS: Chrysorrogiatissa Trail is Ok for kids from 4-5 yo with adult supervision due to unprotected parts, at the end of the trail you can either return the same way or along the motorway which is easier but less shady.
The extension is Ok for any age, just mind the elevation and sun exposure.
Parking is possible only along the road.
