Itinerary description
Christie Falls, the destination of this hike, are always a beautiful but are especially so in springtime when Bush Creek is in full flow. At the top, the upper falls split in two, rejoining to form lower falls as the creek tumbles down the hill.
On the trail you will pass by the Ladysmith Sportsmen's Club Fish Hatchery. There is a toilet and picnic spot at the fish hatchery site.
There is a lovely pool at the bottom of the upper falls which makes a great lunch spot. Above that, there is a steep ascent to the top of the falls (with in-place rope climbing assist) which is possible, depending on conditions, for a look from the top (not shown on this hike).
The trail is partially along a decommissioned logging road in the shade of trees, partially out in the open along the groomed Trans Canada Trail or in total shade in the steeper sections.
There is one small stream to cross via stepping stones or a log (with rope assistance). There is one relatively steep, rocky section of trail (approx. 10 minutes).
Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 2 B.

Nice trail, easy to follow with clear instructions where and where not to turn. Did have a bit of a difficulty on return trip going to the right towards cabin on way back but that's because I was sight seeing quite a bit and made a bit of a mess tracking on the phone app map itself as I was navigating the trail. Return trip on the logging road was not one of my favourite sections as I like being on trails in the woods. Next time I will go back the same way after visiting the cabin.
