Longs Pike is considered a very challenging route.
It is the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. The mountain was named in honor of explorer Stephen Harriman Long.
We, after visiting the spectacular Lake Chams that is located at the foot of the Peak, have attempted its ascent, reaching 4035 meters of altitude. The summit is at 4346 meters. The first snow and cold have already arrived at the Park. The last section is very exposed. There was snow and ice, making it essential to use means of traction (crampons and poles). We lacked crampons and despite the ego urging us to continue, reason prevailed. The access through the Keyhole and its impressive views have more than compensated for the great effort made.
Never forget: "The mountain is not going anywhere, it will always be here another day"
