Itinerary description
Another beautiful trail around Chamonix. There was no snow at this time of the year. A mix of forest, rocky and scree trail. No technical difficulty except the descent to the lake where you have to watch your steps. Starting near the "Chamonix-Planpraz" cable car station, we started our way up on a beautiful forest trail. The ascent is long but not too steep. At around 1550 m of altitude, we left the forest and continued our ascent on a rocky trail till "La parsa" 2075m. There are lot of trails in the mountain so check my intersections waypoints to stay in the good direction. From "La parsa", you have the option to reach the summit via le col (col du Brévent) or via la piste. Due to the low visibility at the time we reached "La parsa", we decided to take la piste which is wider and more visible. The two routes will intersect before reaching the summit. Sceneries all around are stunning. We had the chance to view the massif of Mont Blanc very clearly most of the time. After taking lot of nice photos from the summit, we continued our way down towards the lake (Lac du Brévent). If you are short on time, you can continue straight at the intersection "Lac du Brévent " without going around the lake. But i strongly recommend to do this nice extension to the lake with another set of amazing sceneries to the east of Brévent. The trail to the lake is not as easy as the rest and you have to watch your steps and go slowly down following the yellow dots on rocks. After going around the lake, i made a small off-trail part to get back on trail (easy part). After having a short stop near the "refuge de Bel-Lachat" (it was closed), we continued our long descent to Chamonix on rocky then forest trail. A very small part of the hike at the end was on road. I strongly recommend this hike but always check weather conditions before you do it. Enjoy and stay safe.

Nice loop. Recommend going clockwise to allow the option to gondola down.
