Usual morning routine with departure at 7.20am, we've gotten used to it by now and nothing stops us.
We walk on the same dirt road as the previous day, very slightly uphill, passing the villages of Sara and Chaluk.
The dirt road itself is quite monotonous but the mountain landscape along the banks of the Markha River is magnificent and ever-changing.
We leave the road to go down to the dry part of the river and continue zigzagging between the various bends.
We arrive at an area equipped with a "bar", where we taste Jimpo for the first time, a typical juice from the area, made with red-orange fruits, known as "Leh berries".
We continue our journey along the riverbed and cross a bridge (imagine it as unsafe, you will see the photos) and quickly head towards the base camp at the foot of the perched village of Markha.
After the washing routine, we go to visit the monastery and the town of Markha, complete with a refreshment break at a homestay to drink a mango juice.
Small note: Cristian, despite a very comfortable (partly collapsed) path halfway up the hill to reach the town, forded the Markha river with the (cold) water almost up to his waist (but only because they had given us the wrong indication).
Returning to base camp, we are ready for dinner (6.20pm), this evening noodles in broth, mashed potatoes with tuna and beans and finally cherries in syrup await us, all made by our great chef who cooks in the tent with the light overhead .
Ritual photo of the sky, with a wonderful Milky Way and then bedtime at 9.15pm.
Sixth day of walking: we covered 15km with 900m of positive altitude difference, at those altitudes, today around 4,000m, it's not bad
