Itinerary description
Summer's heat makes day hiking unpleasant. Night hikes and overnight campings are much more enjoyable at this time of the year. Instead of a full day hike, carry your camping stuff on your back and start late during the day to spend the night in the mountains. Sunset and sunrise will make your experience unforgettable. We parked our cars next to "Café Jalileh" close to Chabrouh dam and we started our trek carrying all what is needed in our backpacks (20 kg). We hiked to the left of the dam, then to the left of the lake. After the initial dam ascent, the trail was merely flat next to the lake. After reaching the north side of the lake, we started a steady ascent till the Geodesic point of Chabrouh (about 2 hours). The camp was set just below this point having a magnificent view of the lake, Faraya and Ouyoun el simane. The MSR Windburner is all what you need to cook there. A bottle of prosecco carried with ice was a good idea. A bivy bag is more than enough to spend the night. Beautiful sunrise at 5 am. We packed our lighter food-free backpacks and continued our trek following the trail to reach Faraya's Saint Charbel Statue and Church. We ended our trek around noon having a tasty lunch at "Café Jalileh" before going back home.
NB: There is a fountain at the beginning of second day where you can refill your bottles or camelbags.

Beautiful hike and camp. Thank you so much for the coordinates. And the fountain was flowing surprisingly. We did this trail on 17 and 18th December 2019
Thanks again 🙌🏾

Thank you for this hike. Its fun and gorgeous.
A bit on the longer side if you are doing it in one go, but doable.
Maybe park another car in Mar Charbel to avoid the steep descent on the paved road (not a fun one)
