Chabrouh dam - Chabrouh lake - Geodesic point 1950 m

Chabrouh is always a good idea for a hike at any time of the year, whether it's a morning or a sunset hike. This is one of my labrador's favorite playgrounds. We started our hike early afternoon from the dam facility entrance where i parked my car. A first ascent will take you to the top of the dam from the west side. A pleasant flat walk leads you to the north of the lake where your long ascent to the summit is about to start. The ascent is sternuous, but the view behind you is rewarding and becomes more beautiful when you get higher. Instead of continuing to the old quarry, i took an off-trail path straight to the summit. This part of the trail is tough and physically demanding. Take your time and watch your steps. You will have the best views from the top where you can find an army geodesic point (the highest point around Chabrouh lake at 1950 m). On a clear day, you will be able to see Mzaar, Sannine, Kneisseh and Shouf to the South; Ehmej, Laklouk, Saydet el Qarn, Aqoura and Dahr el Qadib to the North. You can have a stunning view of Jabal Moussa as well from the top. Coffee at the top is a must to complete the show :) The way down from the top followed a trail till the quarry before getting back on the same route. It was already the golden sunset time with amazing reflections on the lake. I wanted to get back to my starting point from the east side of the lake, but there was a strong water flow coming from a water reservoir blocking the way near the dam. It was not a good idea to cross it with my dog. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS IT. You can either choose not to do this part or just have a walk around the lake before going back from the west side to the starting point. Enjoy this beautiful part of Lebanon and keep it clean!
