Itinerary description

In this sunny day of December we wanted to have a walk to the the Rifugio Orionde or Duca degli Abruzzi (it's the same but different names) and since the previous days was damn hot and sunny there was very little amount of snow, so light backpack without equipment.
After leaving Cervina town we got on the path that is just below the wonderful Cevino and as i was mentioning most of the path was without snow, or in some bends were it was accumulated, this path is used in summer by 4x4 to bring the supplies to the rifugio. We had a quick stop at the Chiesetta degli Alpini (a tiny church Looking at Cervino and Cervina at the same time, not bad eh!!!).
We went on and the next interesting spot is a waterfall that now was half icy half not, and then while going on we noticed that the amount of snow was increasing, more and more but was soft due to the strong sun and high temperatures, so at a certain point we had to cross a steep canal and we stopped and go back, we didn't wear proper boots we didn't bring crampons and ice axe, i tried an alternative way but was still not safe.
So we walked few hundred meters back and we had our lunch on the flat roof of a house for cows used in summer, looking at Cervina town and the ski resort which was just in front of us in the other side of the valley.
It was a pity because we were almost there but was not safe to go on.
Anyway while eating we could see the possible way to enjoy the other side of the valley for the following day with our mountain skis.
So far very nice day for the views and the sun.
For sure we'll be back making sure we don't leave our equipment in the car ;)
