  Hi Riki. What is the water situation? I figure there is some at San Francisco? Anywhere else? Cheers.

  Hi Mitch. Are you planning to walk from Tilcara to San Francisco? If so, you will find four different situations during the trip. First, from Casa Colorada to the bridge, you will find no water. From the bridge to Huayrahuasi, you have many creeks and rivers where you can get water. From Huayrahuasi to, lets say, San Lucas, you will see water and creeks, but quiet far walking down, off the trail, so, there is water, but you have to walk extra distances to get it. The exception is Molulo, where you should recharge water though. Finally, from San Lucas to San Francisco, you have creeks again.

  Thanks for your super informative reply! I was thinking about it but I need to figure out how to get back to tilcara first. I'm travelling so don't have access to a car and there seems to be no public transport.

  You must take a bus (only one a day) from San Francisco to Gral. San Martin (Ledesma), which is a middle size city. From there, you have buses to San Salvador de Jujuy (the capital city) every two hours. And then, you have to take a last bus from San Salvador to Tilcara. It may take more than a day, unless you handle to coordínate all buses schedules.

  Thanks so much. I've found the bus company (23 de agnóstico) with timetables. If I need to stay in San Francisco for a night that's fine.
