Itinerary description
15 09 2022
Cerro Nicolás
This is one of the lesser known routes. It is linear and the return trip takes around 50 minutes.
It starts more or less opposite the Refugio de Juanar Hotel (closed since Covid 19 and not reopened to date September 2022).
This route has a good climb all the way up. From the intersection it gets tricky. There is a faint path in places and sometimes it’s hard to find.
The last few minutes you have to do a bit of rock climbing to get to the top.
From the summit which has 3 obsolete aerial masts, you get great views of Ojén and the surrounding Sierra Blanca.
Coming back down I lost my bearings, which can be easy to do (stay a little more to the left).
There is little or no phone coverage, so I would recommend you don’t do this hike on your own as you go along some ridges. In my opinion it’s not too dangerous, but if anything happens you may not be able to use your phone.
Please note I returned exactly the same way I climbed up, but the Gps signal went a bit astray

Easy to follow
Scenery
Very difficult
Circuit très intéressant. La partie escalade des rochers est trop succincte et non adaptée pour les débutants
