Cerro Chame 12 FEB 2018

Subida al Cerro Chame.

Este es uno de mis senderos preferidos con la gran ventaja de que está relativamente cerca a la Ciudad de Panamá (a 1 hora en carro particular).

Manejen hasta Bejuco en el Distrito de Chame y entren por la iglesia. El camino hasta el inicio del sendero pueden verlo en: https://www.wikiloc.com/car-trails/acceso-por-automovil-para-sendero-de-cerro-chame-12852307

Estacionen el auto a la orilla del final del acceso para no bloquear la entrada. Tengan cuidado de no estacionarse tampoco muy a la orilla porque corren el riesgo de quedar atascados. Un vehiculo 4x2 S.U.V. llega perfectamente. Vehículos sedanes también llegan siempre y cuando no haya llovido. El problema con los sedanes cuando llueve es el lodo realmente.

Desde el inicio del sendero el 95% del terreno es en ascenso, demora aproximadamente 2 horas y tiene muchas piedras sueltas. Es recomendable usar botas de senderismo.
Llevar 2 litros de agua por adulto, algo ligero para comer, NO DEJAR LA BASURA ARRIBA y preferible gorra para el sol. Hay cobertura de celular durante todo el camino.

Ascent to Cerro Chame.
This is one of my favorite trails with the great advantage that it is relatively close to Panama City (1 hour by private car).

Drive to Bejuco town in the Chame District and enter through the church. You can see the way to the beginning of the trail at:

Park the car at the edge of the end of the trail and do not block the entrance. Be careful not to park too close to the edge because you run the risk of getting stuck. A 4x2 S.U.V. arrives perfectly. Sedans also arrive as long as it hasn't rained. The problem with sedans when it rains is the mud really.

From the beginning of the trail, 95% of the terrain is uphill. It takes about 2 hours and has many loose stones. It is advisable to use hiking boots.
You will need 2 liters of water per adult, something light to eat, DO NOT LEAVE THE GARBAGE ON TOP and a hat. There is cellphone coverage all the way.
