Itinerary description
This is an all day trail focusing on walking by the sea with some nice sea caves and some extras.
It was done during the low season in February, during the high season way more people in the key locations are expected.
Requirements:
1. Shoes that will be comfortable for a 20+km walk.
2. Something warm like a hoodie on the way back (in winter).
3. A bottle of water plus a snack, there will be no bar/shop for a long time (during the low season).
4. Swimming suite with a mask.
4. Start early or walk fast or don't stop too much. I recommend starting early so you don't need to rush it.
A trail:
You probably will start at one of the nearby hotels, head towards the sea. The first interesting stop is an undersea museum. All of the figures are placed on the seabed. You would need a bit of time for that. Next there is an all-tourist friendly promenade by the sea ending with the harbour. After that there is probably the longest beach on the trail, another good time to at least get your feet wet. When the beach is over and you need to walk a bit up on the more narrow, but still very easy path. There is a first hidden sea cave. It looks great with the intense colour of water. You can climb down towards the entrance or swim into it.
A couple next kilometers you just follow the sea, there will be two beaches which you can probably just pass. Eventually the paved road ends. There is a narrow ground route, which ends quickly. There will be no obvious route to take now, just keep yourself as closest to the sea as you find it comfortable. A few hundred meters before the next caves you can go down the cliff, but this will be a more challenging way than the one on the cliff. You can also encircle the cave and walk there from the other side. Either way you end up at the entrance. That is another great place to go into the water. For those with a bit more courage there is a spot where you can jump from the cliff into the sea. That was the last sea point on this trail. Next is the hill you were walking towards. Time to get on top of that one. The trail will be barely visible, if you don't see it all the time it is fine, just follow the general direction. At some moment you will see the lighthouse which is at the end of the peninsula. You can get to it if you wish or just shot a photo from a distance (that is what I've done). A bit of hiking uphill ahead of you, but really not that much. There is a nice view from the top of the hill. You can take a bit of time to enjoy it there.
From now we start walking back. There are some options here. You can do a big circle, not to take the same route back. You can take mostly the same route, but visit a park with sculptures and a bit of the city on the way back. Or you can just return the same way to enjoy the sea with a possible lovely sunset. I took the middle ground. If you decide to follow me, go down the hill and follow your own path until on the map I've turned right - away from the sea. You will be for some minutes on the asphalt road with no pavements, be aware of the possible traffic. Soon you turn left to the park, take your time enjoying the figures and go back via the city. There is a museum, pharmacy, bars, shops with some food and souvenirs, anything you need.
