Itinerary description
This easy hike starts at the Wisp recreation area. It follows the Catlins River track downstream for about 3Km where it takes a detour (Marked with the waypoint "Detour to Pukepiko summit") to start the 300 meters to the top of Pukepiko. These 300 meters are entirely off track. There is so much vegetation but luckily it's never too dense or difficult.
I was disappointed when I got to the top. I was expecting to see great views from the surroundings and the river but there are too many trees so you cannot really see much.
We return to the car following the same way.
The highlights of this walk are the beautiful views of the river and the two wire-rope suspension bridges we will have to cross.
