Itinerary description
The trail starts in the town center of Castel Giuliano (easy parking). After a few hundred meters on a paved road a dirt trail to the right very soon reaches a small creek, to be followed for a while. The trail reaches a wide, plain valley, where horses roam freely. On the left, the remains of a wine processing facility from Etruscan times can be explored. This plain used to be a vineyard, 2500 years ago!
One reaches the upper part of the cascades, prominently marked by an arched stone bridge not in use anymore. Nearby, remains of a water mill can be seen, now overgrown by trees.
Follows a rather steep decline to the bottom part of the waterfall. In part somewhat difficult for kids/elderly/the not so fit, but worth the effort. The way back follows a dirt road mainly used by logging trucks, currently VERY muddy.
At the time of our trip, the trail was not maintained at all by the Commune di Bracciano or the hamlet of Castel Giuliano, which left it in a rather "rural" state.
Overall a very pleasant trip.
