Itinerary description
This is a detour from "Sentiero Cai 412", the main trail going through Gole del Salinello. It will take you to a nice close up view to Cascate del Caccamo (or Lu Cacchéma). You can also proceed down to the river bed.
Search for the GPS track of the main trail through "Gole del Salinello".
Following the Gole del Salinello trail from Ripe di Civitella, a little while after Grotta Sant'Angelo, you get to a cross road. Turn left from there to take this trail downhill to Cascate del Caccamo.
Beware: this trail is unmarked and you'll find no indication to Cascate del Caccamo.
This trail is very very steep and slippery. You will find ropes here and there on the trail to help you go down or go back up to the main trail, but despite that you will need to be very careful and hold on to every tree, branch or root to avoid slipping downhill.
Not for the faint of heart!
