Casa de las Flores – Atalaya, Mijas
This is a linear walk starting from the garden centre Casa de las Flores on the outskirts of Alhaurin el Grande.- to the restaurant Vecinos Atalaya.
It is a gentle downhill walk on dirt track roads through the campo, with the odd splattering of viviendas and old ruins.
Eventually crossing over the river Alaminos in two places, with warning signs of flooding if there is severe weather.
The restaurant Vecinos de Atalaya is in the middle of nowhere. It has character and is definitely an experience!
Also the prices are reasonable and the proprietors were very friendly.
Enroute you get some good views of the Entrerrios Valley, Sierra Alpujata, The Coin Fire lookout and the Sierra de Mijas.
Follow the route back the same way you came (slightly uphill most of the way). And don’t forget Casa de las Flores has a good bar (one of my favourites).
