Itinerary description
From the end of the public road leading into Glen Banchor from Newtonmore, westwards as far as the ruin of Glenballoch, then north-westwards alongside the Allt Fionndrigh. Then over a low saddle into Glen Ballach and again north-westwards over extremely boggy ground to the head of the glen. From here, a much steeper ascent to the south west, to reach the summit of Carn Dearg (945m). Descent via the south ridge of Carn Dearg and into Gleann Lochain, then alongside the River Calder back to Glenballoch, crossing more boggy ground.
