NOTICE: It is understood that anyone who wants to do this same route assumes the responsibility that an activity entails that is not exempt from possible risks or incidents, in an environment in which common sense and circumstances can make the difference between having a good day or the opposite.
From Homer and the End Road you have to get to the Sky Line Rd., so that after a little more than a couple of miles, you can access the parking lot of the Carl E. Wynn Center Nature, which the benefactor Wynn He gave it to Homer for the use and enjoyment of all those who wanted to come to this beautiful corner of Alaska.
From the car park to the information center there is a couple of minutes along a wooden walkway, where we come across a small group of schoolchildren, who at this time and in these parts still have classes. In the center, a quite friendly young man informs us of the route, the time it takes; in addition to giving us a couple of prints of the birds and flora of the area. The price per group is 30 dollars, which goes towards the cost of personnel and maintenance of the ten square kilometers of this beautiful natural enclave, in which, according to what we are informed, with a bit of luck you can even see a moose. , which we call elk, because it is a migratory passageway for these impressive cervids, which impressed us all due to its enormous size and friendly appearance. The circular route takes just over an hour and a half, with obligatory stops to take the required photos and enjoy the views from a couple of viewpoints along the route. These wooden platforms are found in the first section of the route and around a lagoon, which at this time is without water, but which maintains dense vegetation and is the ideal place to see some elk, which we did not on this occasion we could see. The first section of the route runs along some wooden walkways, which cross the swampy area, until after the two raised platforms you reach a fork to the right, transforming the route into a narrow path, which now runs through dense trees, with a tendency to descend in the almost kilometer of route that there is, until reaching a wooden bridge, over a stream, which at this time carries little water, but according to a sign at the beginning of this stretch, it prohibits fishing in this protected environment. The return of this remote part of the park is done along the same path, until at the first crossroads you take the path to the right, to end up coming out again to the circular path that surrounds the entire natural center. Little by little we complete the entire route and we approach the small car park, although leaving it to the right, to end up coming out again, after another viewpoint and the successive wooden walkway to the information center.
