I have followed this trail  verified  View more

This track does NOT follow a trail. It's quite difficult to follow as you're walking in a desolate place where the ground is made up of volcanic rock. There are also some crevasses in the ground that you have to go around, leading you away from the GPS trail.
There is an actual dirt road To Carbeirinho, but from there on you on unmarked territory. Basically you have to go through a crossing between 2 peaks, then you descend on the slope of one of them on a path that's probably been made by goats (it's pretty narrow and the "footsteps" are quite small). Afterwards you reach another dirt road that takes you to the sea-side. From there, there's a path (fairly well defined) that will reach a cobble-stone road. The path goes through some forested area, which is a breath of fresh air after the previous landscape. The cobble-stone road goes from Ribeira da Prata to Praia Branca and the path intersects it midway. I went to Ribeira da Prata where I stumbled upon some a scenic landscape. From there you can take a hiace (aluguer or taxi) to Praia Branca. But mind you, they usually run just in the morning, mid-day (around 12, sometimes even 3 PM) and 4-6 PM. But you can also hitch a ride... if any car happens to pass by.
I would not suggest following this trail on a windy or hot days. There is no shelter from the wind or the sun. Make sure you take enough water with you.
