Wadi Rum or Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is a desert valley located at 1600 m asl in a mountainous region formed by granite and sandstone in southern Jordan.
The Wadi Rum protected area is the first mixed site declared a World Heritage Site (2011) by UNESCO in Jordan.
Wadi Rum has been inhabited since prehistoric times by various cultures, including the Nabateans, who have left their mark in the form of petroglyphs. Since 2007, several Bedouin tribes have inhabited the desert.
The region centered on Wadi Rum is home to the Zalabia Bedouin tribe, who organize adventure ecotourism for visitors.
This is a wonderful place, where it seems that time has stopped. Here, the water and the wind have carved the imposing and tall skyscrapers, which TE Lawrence described with such elegance: “Immense, solitary... as if touched by the hand of God”. A
