Itinerary description
A fairly adventurous route in the area between Çandır, Dalyan and Sultaniye. Lots of forests and beautiful views and a few archaeological points of interest.
The route starts from a junction of several walking and cycling routes on the road from Dalyan to Çandır. To get to this place from Dalyan, it is recommended to take the ferry on the north side of the city to cross the Dalyan River. We can easily park along the road.
This place was not chosen randomly. From this point there is a beautiful view over the estuary of the Dalyan River. And it is therefore not surprising that we find a café there. The café has created a few platforms where one can have a drink while enjoying the panorama.
We start our walk by following the eco trails C3a Sultaniye Dalyan.
First we go on an easy dirt road through a stretch with mainly olive groves. After a short while we will pass grave ruins, and not much later we will see a rock tomb. The section that follows alternates between easy unpaved roads and beautiful, exciting paths through the forest. We pass through nice pine forests with a striking number of streams.
The trail is signalled with red-white markings, but nevertheless it is not always easy to understand where one has to go. The maintenance of the paths and the markings could have been a bit better. But it is never really problematic to continue walking or to find our way. Nevertheless is it recommended to use a good GPS and not to rely solely on the white red marking.
We reach a second rock tomb after almost three kilometers. It is located on top of a rock formation from where we have a magnificent view.
After this, we leave the eco trails route and start the way back. From here we continue on easy unpaved forest roads. We walk still through a pine forest but occasionally there are open stretches so we have frequent panoramas over the valley of the Dalyan river.
This will remain the case until we return to our starting point.
Some additional information:
The route is designed in a counter clockwise direction.
Time spent: total = 6 hours 2 minutes of which moving = 1 hour 58 minutes
There is no drinking water along the trail
The track is moderate from a technical point of view. It is not always easy to find the route. An adequate orientation ability is therefore a requirement. It is recommended to wear sturdy shoes and long pants.
Presence of red-white signposts:
The first 3 km: eco trails C3a

Disclaimer.
I have personally performed and then downloaded the route described, along with the track and waypoints, based on my personal experience. However, it is important to note that these should be considered as general guides and not precise instructions. Trails may not always accurately represent the exact itinerary due to factors such as weak satellite reception during GPS recording, especially in areas with ravines, deep gorges, dense forests, and similar conditions. Furthermore, the situation of the hiking trails may change over time, meaning that the descriptions given no longer correspond to the current situation.
It is the sole responsibility of the individual undertaking these trails to take appropriate safety measures, which should be tailored to the specific difficulty level and be in accordance to the prevailing weather conditions. Additionally, it should be realized that one's technical and physical preparedness play a crucial role in ensuring a safe hiking experience.
I strongly recommend hiking with a companion when venturing into the mountains. Always inform a friend or family member of your itinerary and estimated time of return. Ensure that your phone has a sufficient battery charge, and carry an adequate supply of water, food, and appropriate shelter for the season and the chosen route.
Please commit to leaving the natural environment as pristine as you found it, or even better. This way, we can all continue to enjoy the beauty of these trails, leaving behind only the traces of our footsteps.
