CAN 04-Prados Sunshine // Sunshine Meadows

<<< English follows >>> Esta es una sencilla ruta que comienza en la estación de esquí de Sunshine Village. No está permitido subir allí en coche. Hay que utilizar el autobús que parte desde el aparcamiento inferior. El precio del autobús es de 27 CAD (adulto, ida y vuelta). La última bajada del autobús es a las 17:30 pero en verano hay otra a las 18:30. La ruta cruza la línea llamada “Gran Divisoria (Continental Divide)”. Esa es la divisoria hidrográfica de América y, en este lugar, también marca la frontera entre Alberta y Columbia Británica. En el terreno se nota claramente que estamos en una estación de esquí. Por supuesto se ven las pilones de la estación. La parte de los tres lagos (Rock Isle, Larix y Grizzly) es bonita. El mirador Simpson también ofrece vistas impresionantes. Esta ruta está muy equipada con bancos, escaleras, barandillas y servicios. Aunque es fácil y muy concurrida, merece la pena porque tienes juntos todos los elementos característicos de las Montañas Rocosas canadienses: abetos, ríos, lagos, prados, etc. Después de los lagos se sigue caminando hasta el mirador Monarch. Una opción interesante es comprar sólo el billete de ida y regresar al aparcamiento desde el mirador Monarch, pasando por Healy Pass. El suelo es gravilla y no hay sombra. Nosotros hicimos la ruta sin nada de nieve pero es un paseo idóneo para raquetas de nieve. Para evitar aglomeraciones merece la pena madrugar. <<< English >>> This is an easy route that starts in the ski resort of Sunshine Village. It is not allowed to get there by car. The bus that leaves from the lower parking must be used. The fare is 27 CAD (adult, round trip). The last descent of the bus is at 17:30 but in the summer there is another at 18:30. The route crosses the line called "Continental Divide". That is the hydrologic division of America and, in this place, also marks the border between Alberta and British Columbia. The terrain clearly shows that we are in a ski resort. Of course the station lifts are visible. The part of the three lakes (Rock Isle, Larix and Grizzly) is nice. The Simpson viewpoint also offers breathtaking views. This hike is well equipped with benches, steps, railings and restrooms. Although easy and very busy, it's worth because you have together all the characteristic elements of the Canadian Rockies: firs, rivers, lakes, meadows, etc. After the lakes you can continue walking to the viewpoint Monarch. An interesting option is to buy only one-way ticket and return to the parking lot from the lookout Monarch, through Healy Pass. The floor is gravel and no shade. We did the route without any snow but it is an ideal walk for snowshoes. To avoid crowds it's worth to wake up early.
