Everest Base Camp - days 21-23 - from Gokyo to Lukla (Nepal)
Start: Gokyo (4759m)
Final: Lukla (2844m)
Duration: 3 days
Distance: 47.1km
Highest altitude: 5407m in Passo Renjo La
Lowest altitude: 2545m on the Thado Koshi Bridge
Difficulty: very high. The altitude above 3000m can cause symptoms of Mountain sickness. Good and slow acclimatization is essential. Below-zero cold and dry air can lead to health problems.
Permissions: entrance to Sagarmatha National Park (Rs 3000 = US $ 26.04) and local permission that replaced the TIMS card for the Everest region (Rs 2000 = US $ 17.36).
This is the sixth and final stage of the Everest Base Camp trek that started in Shivalaya and went to Gorak Shep (Everest Base Camp) and Gokyo, taking two mountain passes (Passo Kongma La and Passo Renjo La).
