Itinerary description
Calmont Klettersteig and Höhenweg
Top walk along and on top of Europe’s steepest vineyard-hill!
It is possible to just walk the Calmont klettersteig between Bremm and Ediger-Eller and walk back to your starting point next to the Mosel or take public transport.
People walk the trail in both directions!
This is a steig NOT a via ferrata so you DON’T need any special gear like carabiners or helmet…
On the section between Bremm and the junction to the Hohenweg you will encounter 1 ladder and some rocky passages where steel cables are provided whenever it becomes a bit tricky. Don’t believe many websites that are fear mongering, it is very doable for anyone that is used to doing dayhikes in the mountains or along not completely flattened out trails.
I crossed paths with couples in their 70’s as well as 4 years old children.
If you dont suffer from extreme vertigo, it is actually a very fun walk!
On the passage between the junction to the Hohenweg and Ediger-Eller you will have to use three to four more ladders. I didnt do this section since I climbed to the Hohenweg but talked to someone at the campsite.
Big parkings in Bremm, at the bottom next to the Mosel or higher up in the village (where we parked):
50,10174° N, 7,11552° O
