Itinerary description
Vila do Corvo --> Miradouro Caldeirao --> Caldeirao crater --> Espigaozinho --> Vila do Corvo
Around 2h up, 2-2:30h for the crater, 1h down. Well marked trail.
Corvo island is very small, thus it is possible to go up the crater on foot. The way up is mainly road, however you'll pass maximum few cars during the ascent. Crater is beautiful, it is worth going inside and around as the views are much different from the "inside" perspective.
I recommend going late afternoon and after visiting the crater climbing up to the point marked "Espigaozinho" on the map (pole with pile of rocks around 50m behind the antenna where the road ends) and stay for the sunset. Around 50-40 mins before it (at least in early September), the sun beautifully reflects in the small lakes inside the crater. Worth spending every minute! If going on foot remember to take a headlamp for the return as there are no street lights on the road back.
