Itinerary description
One of the most extraordinary activities to do in Basilicata is to visit the Calanchi located in the Calanchi Reserve of Montalbano Jonico.
Thousands of years ago there was sea water here and that’s why it is still possible to find remains of shells on the ground!
We had the feeling of walking in an otherworldly territory, surrounded by nature and absolute silence, it’s a 5 km hike with 300 meters of altitude difference but remember to leave early in the morning because in summer days the heat is unbearable!
If you are a lover of nature excursions, you can not miss this beautiful place in Basilicata!
