Itinerary description

From the end of Old Mossy Rd we followed the trail through Highlands Cal Revelle Nature Sanctuary to the High Ridge Route in Gowlland Tod. We followed this and descended to the Squally Reach viewpoint. From there we followed the Timberman Trail to Bonzai, the twisted fir. This remarkable tree lost a major branch in the winter storms. A lot of trees were down or topped by recent winds, especially on the south section of the High Ridge Route. We retured via the High Ridge Route and Cal Revelle. Don't park where we did at the end of old Mossy Rd. Although the road and trail are all on public land, the neighbours are quite sensitive to noisy intruders in the sanctuary.

The sensitive neighbour at the end of Old Mossy are attempting to close the trail starting on the old public road allowance at the trailhead. On 26 June 2030 we found branches and tree is littered on the trail obscuring the track for the first 50 meters. He may own the properties on both sides of the of the trail but he has no right to close the designated access to Cal Revelle nature Sanctuary. Just stick to the clear boot track as the track has been cleared to the trail junction with the Gowlland Tod Park High Ridge trail to Jocelyn Hill.

Cal Revelle Nature Sanctuary is just that; there are no official trails through this park reserve. There are enough parks around that we should respect the intent of this particular piece of land: to let nature take its course without human disturbance. The sensitive neighbour has it right.
