Itinerary description
A great, if difficult and somewhat annoying, hike with some incredible views and desert landscape.
Beware the steep climb. I often do climbing hikes but there’s few times I’ve encountered such a steep ascent.
We did it mid day in mid summer. Doable but take a lot of water. If it had been a cooler day a longer route (returning out the back by the river) would probably have been possible.
You can reach the trail head by car (even if google maps doesn’t say so)
