Itinerary description
After a 4 hr drive from Arequipa and after lunch in Cabanaconde we started our long trek down to our cabin at Oasis and it’s not a spa.
The trail is difficult but mostly because of the rocks and every one of them loose. It was slow going. Elevation drop was 1,193 from 3,302 which is as high a Cusco. It took us almost 4 hours what with stopping to take picture so we got there after sunset. Had dinner and went straight to bed for the trek back up. We left at 4 in the morning so we could beat the sun. It took us 3 hr 10 min. Of the almost 300 people leaving only 55 passed us. Not bad for a couple 65 and 64. We got a bit of a cheer from those already at the top.
