C11.03 - Anello della Grotta di Bernardo (Felitto)

Il percorso comincia in corrispondenza dell’“Oasi di Remolino”, una delle aree attrezzate più belle e ben gestite nell’ entroterra Cilentano.
Da qui si attraversa il fiume, grazie alla presenza di una traversa fluviale che in passato aveva la funzione di convogliare le acque del Fiume Calore ad una centrale idroelettrica (ormai dismessa), e si comincia la risalita lungo le gole.
Si prosegue fino a trovare le indicazioni “Grotta di Bernardo” che, in circa 10 minuti, si raggiunge.
Le origini della grotta non sono ancora ben definite. Si tratta di una minuscola unità abitativa, ricavata in parte in una cavità rocciosa ed integrata in parte da una struttura muraria, quasi a sembrare un piccolo eremo.
La struttura in muratura sembra delimitare tutta l’area, dandogli l’aspetto di uno spazio effettivamente abitato in modo continuativo, come dimostrano il forno, costruito con frammenti di laterizio ed il mortaio scavato nella roccia.
Proseguendo si scende verso il fiume, si guada e si riscende verso Remolino.
Il percorso si sviluppa in destra e sinistra del fiume Calore, offrendo una bellissima vista sulle gole e sulle verdi acque di uno dei fiumi più puliti d’Europa.

The route begins at the "Remolino Oasis", one of the most beautiful and well-managed equipped areas in the Cilento hinterland.
From here you cross the river, thanks to the presence of a river crossing which in the past had the function of conveying the waters of the Calore River to a hydroelectric power station (now decommissioned), and you begin the ascent along the gorges.
Continue until you find the signs for “Grotta di Bernardo” which can be reached in about 10 minutes.
The origins of the cave are not yet well defined. It is a tiny housing unit, partly created in a rock cavity and partly integrated by a wall structure, almost looking like a small hermitage.
The masonry structure seems to delimit the entire area, giving it the appearance of a continuously inhabited space, as demonstrated by the oven, built with fragments of brick and the mortar dug into the rock.
Continuing, you descend towards the river, cross it and descend towards Remolino.

The route runs to the right and left of the Calore river, offering a beautiful view of the gorges and green waters of one of the cleanest rivers in Europe.
