Some clarifications for those who tackle this route without basic experience of the area:
- find out about the state of the park before leaving, closures and more.
- bring water, drinking water is not available due to fires
- check the weather conditions, the weather is very changeable during the day and from the base to the summit, nothing dangerous but it can be unpleasant.
- download the map on your phone, little connection on site less than 5% only on the top part. Use paper map, measurements in miles, 1 mile 1.6 km.
- bring cash, entry to the park is self-service, the money must be placed in the envelope at the entrance.
This is the order of the paths tackled today:
- Six Ridge Trial in perfect condition
- Mill Ox Trail, only halfway to the junction with Jackson Flats Trail
- Jackson Flats Trail, quite degraded by fires, but restored.
- Butane Fire Road, perfect condition
- Indian Trail, good condition, some wreckage at night.
- Doe Ridge Trail, good condition.
- Ano Nuevo Trail, good condition.
Find the map in the first waypoint for more details on Closed Trails.
The route is free of any risk, easy to follow, I had to label it as moderate using the California State Park scale, perhaps it should have been difficult.
This park is less affected by fires than the Big Basin and is therefore preferable.
