Itinerary description

This trail combines historical monuments with beautiful nature. It took me approximately 6 hours, including some short breaks and spending some time looking around at the Wartburg (not going through the museum). It is easy hiking with plenty of opportunities to rest & eat. Only in the Landgrafenschlucht I had some difficulties following the right path (to many "crossroads").
Please do not expect to be alone, the Wartburg area is very „touristy“.
Starting at the Burschenschaftsdenkmal has the advantage of free parking compared to the parking places closer to the Wartburg.
When descending from the Burschenschaftsdenkmal and reaching the outskirts of Eisenach, you might want to consider taking a detour in „Kurstraße“ and further to have a look at very nice historical mansions.

At waypoint 5 I somehow missed the best path to the „Großer Drachenstein“. If you keep to the right you should be able to reach the viewpoint without going back and forth.

The Bornemann „memorial“ is just a bench with a nice view onto the Wartburg.
