Beautiful trip! We did it in February, where crampons would properly have been a good idea. Another tip: don't cross the river!
We parked at the side of the road halfway between the road and the house. When we returned to the car, the owner of the house came back from a drive. She seemed very pissed that we had parked on the road (even though it was possible for her to pass). She did not yell or anything, she just wanted us to dissapear as quickly as possible.
