Itinerary description
Started at 7:35am, ended 2:15pm
With Trailblazer Hiking Club.
Guides are mandatory. 1 guide for 7 hikers. The trail near the peak is confusing, especially during descent. Some hikers went down the wrong trail, which leads to Pondok Repin, Kemensah instead. So, do follow the guide at all times.
Started the hike with a river crossing. Since I’m no good at balancing on rocks, my shoes were wet from the start. In total, there’re 4 river crossings. 2 come with the risk of wetting your feet.
The jungle trail is raw and filled with leeches. But the hike was awesome, the tall trees beautiful and the trail, about 1km from the peak, was misty and cooling. It also becomes challenging and steep. The ropes help make the ascent and descent slightly easier.
Stopped for an hour at the peak. It was cold and I was shivering like mad. >_<
As mentioned, be alert on the way down as the trail gets confusing. Some went down the wrong way. The guide managed to lead them back on the right trail before they went too far in. Kudos to the guide!
The hike was awesome, with great company and friendly & caring members who take care of each other.
