Itinerary description
2h:51m:53s | 5.2 km (Use OpenStreetMap.Org to view)
The trail start point is directly across the street from the Moongate entrance. Crossing over the bridge head straight (see photos) into the forest as the trail is directly ahead. It is overgrown with wide leaf plants so simply continue for a few metres until the trail becomes visible. The climb to Bukit Olivia or Mount Olivia starts right away and is signed marked (see photos). The trail meanders up the ridge line and there is plenty of undergrowth, fallen branches, but there are paint markers on the tree during the ascent. There are a couple of junctions, one to the left and further along, on the right. The right trail takes you back down towards Field Apartments and is sign posted. Continuing to the top of Bukit Olivia where you will find a large cut granite stone to indicate the top. From this point continue north and begin a descent. The trail becomes difficult to follow as there may be plenty of leaf fall obscuring the path itself. You will come to a badly marked junction. For this hike, take the left and continue descending. Searching for the path is required and gets quite difficult. The trail takes a turn westward and heads towards the Mountain Bike Trail (MTB). The trial crosses a dry creek then ascends up a steep incline until reaching a ridge line. The west facing slope is an abandoned plantation characterized by terraces. This is where the trial gets very difficult to find as there is so much leaf litter. You can see the city with skyscrapers through the trees so just keep heading in a westerly direction down the slope. The trail eventual comes out at the MBT which is utilized by mountain bikers during the weekend. Take a left and follow the trail until reaching the junction to Lily Pond. Turning left the trail is clear and heads up the hill some ways before beginning a very steep descent towards the Lily Pond. There are many thick ropes to assist when descending but it is slow going given the steep decline. Upon reaching the Lily Pond the trail leads through the Botantical Garden and comes out at the park's entrance.
