Itinerary description

Fabulous day hike through the Stanley Forest to Stanley and return via Murmungee Lookout.

Steep uphills and descents makes for interesting walking and the surrounding bushland and views beautiful.

Stanley Pub lunch was disappointing so I’d suggest taking a picnic lunch to enjoy at your own leisure and enjoy a coldie at the pub before heading back.

There are public toilets next to the hall on the intersection across from pub.

Well signposted all the way but be sure to have written down tracks to take off google maps etc. signs don’t say direction of Stanley, just track names.

Take water, food, phones. Hats & sunscreen.

Good tree canopy shade all the way.

I would class this as a grade 3 walk.

Uphill!

Yes there’s a bit of uphill in the first 3-4kms. Not lung busting but it will get your heart rate up!

Dog Friendly

Albeit Blue should be on a lead the walk is dog friendly. Be mindful it’s okay for larger, very active dogs. Small dogs will struggle with the distance.

Opens at noon for lunch...11.30am at the bar...so the signs say. Reality is opened bar at noon too, and a bit grumpy (bar staff, not hikers).

Burger

Nah, lamb burger was ok but I wouldn’t go back for another. Service was a bit nah too. Plenty of places to enjoy a picnic lunch. Have a beer or coldie at the pub.
