Itinerary description
This is the famous ‘figure 8’ hiking trail that takes you through most of the Bryce Canyon Amphitheater. Get your camera ready, and take lots of pictures of the spectacular hoodoos, which are the lumpy spires of rock.
If you have time, it’s worthwhile to continue driving through the park to the ‘Bristlecone Pine Trail’, which is at the end of the road. The Bristlecone Pine Trail is a 1 mile, very pleasant short hike, which takes you to a small stand of Bristlecone Pine Trees. And of course you should take lots of stops along the road before you reach the trailhead to the Bristlecone Pine Trail. There are lots of turnouts to take in the wonderful views of Bryce Canyon. Bryce Canyon is a fairly small national park. You can enjoy almost all of the park in a couple of days.
Finally, I visited Bryce Canyon in late April. The weather was perfect, and there weren't kids and families invading the park, since the kids were once again confined to school after spring break. :-) Late April is probably the best time of year to visit.
